Emmanuel C of E Church, Wargrave

Tne marble plaque above the entrance to the chancel at Emmanual Church, Wargrave, reads:

This chancel was built in honoured memory of those connected with the parish church who gave their lives for their country 1914-1919.

All these were honoured in their generation and were the glory of their times.

£9000 was raised for the building of the chancel. The foundation stone was laid on 4th September 1925 by Mr. F. S. Whalley of the Vulcan Foundry, the building being consecrated by the Bishop of Liverpool a year later on 18th September 1926.

The church also has a memorial to "those connected with this Parish Church who served their country during the War of 1914-19."
