In Memory of

Private John Charlesworth

1st Battalion Cheshire Regiment
Killed in Action 15th November 1914

Private John Charlesworth was a native of Crewe, according to the NEG obituary of 25th December 1914, but, on getting married three years before his death, he moved to Earlestown where he lived with his wife at 38, Houghton Street. Proir to being employed at the Collins Green Colliery he worked on the capstan at the Viaduct. He was a reservist and had served eight years in India.

His name is recorded on the Menin Gate at Ieper.
