This group photograph was published in the Warrington Guardian of 17th April 1915. The text states: “It is pathetic to recall that before leaving Tunbridge Wells for the Front five of the Newton Territorials faced the camera together. The photograph is of tragic significance for two of the five have since lost their lives in the service of their country, whilst a third has been wounded. The death of Lance-Corporal Ball, one of the group, was reported in last Saturday’s “Guardian.” News that another of the comrades - Private Reeves of 1, Birley-street, Newton - had fallen was contained in a letter received by his parents.”
