Rifleman Thomas Jones

Killed in Action 20th September 1917 Age 18

Tommy Jones was the son of Hugh and Mary Jones of 1, Canal Street, Earlestown. He had worked in the lamp shop at Messrs. R. Evans and Co.'s Princess Pit, Haydock.

He joined the army about six months before he was killed, spending about three months in France. He was hit by a shell "between eight and nine a.m." according to his obituary in the NEG of 28th September.

Tommy's name is on the Tyne Cot Memorial.
