In Memory of

Corporal Charles Davies

238009
1st/4th Battalion South Lancashire Regiment
Died of Wounds 9th September 1917 Age 22

Charles was the son of Joe and Mary Davies of 27, Reads Road, Blackpool, though he was born in Liverpool. SDGW confirms this birthplace but states that he was a resident of Earlestown and enlisted in Newton-le-Willows.

He is buried in Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery. It has not been possible to find an obituary to provide further personal details.

The Regimental Diary for the 8th September gives an indication of the work being carried out by this pioneer battalion:

"Fine.

B,D Coys Bathing & Training under Coy. arrangements.
