Other than his name on the regularly published Roll of Honour in the Newton and Earlestown Guardian, it has not as yet been possible to find any information about a soldier of this name. His name first appears in the spring of 1918. The soldier whose details are given above may be the one listed on the memorial. He was a native of Woodlands, Fahan, Co. Donegal. He is buried in Gorre British and Indian Cemetery, four kilometres east of Bethune in Plot IV Row D Grave 20.
