In Memory of

Private Joseph Eden

40561
9th (Service) Battalion York and Lancaster Regiment
(Formerly 162102 Royal Field Artillery)
Killed in Action 9th June 1917 Age 25

Joseph was the son of Mrs. Davies of Gas Street, Earlestown. SDGW states that he was born in Whiston, Lancashire, enlisted in Aston-in-Makerfield and was a resident of Wigan. However, his Warrington Guardian obituary said that "he was well known in the district, having travelled about with a van as dealer in hardware."

Joseph was killed when he was hit by a bullet. He is buried in Perth Cemetery (China Wall) in Ieper, in Plot II Row H Grave 13.
